SLOBODAN VASIC, GREAT MASTER OF YOGA, FROM KRALJEVO, IN CENTRAL SERBIA

Slobodan Vasić (1965-2014) was a yoga master and spiritual teacher from Kraljevo.

At a very young age, even in his teenage years, he became interested in yoga and spirituality. He began to practice various yoga and other spiritual approaches. He promised himself that he would become enlightened, which he did, in his 21 years of life.

Slobodan had the capacity to practice many spiritual paths, simultaneously, before he became enlightened. In one of his lessons on Kundalini Yoga, from 1992, he wrote:

"Yes, I dug more wells. But I was like a bulldozer. They told me: "You won't get anywhere like that. You must choose only one path, and follow it." I did not listen to them. Somehow, who knows how, I was lucky or unlucky, who knows, to get home. I got there, and they are still wandering in the dark."

Slobodan was often known to criticize false gurus (spiritual teachers), so in this same lesson, he wrote:

"The integrity of your being is more important than the recognition of any spiritual teacher. I have watched hundreds and hundreds of people waste and destroy their lives by following some sixth grade guru."

During his teaching and living in Kraljevo, Slobodan wrote hundreds of different lessons in the field of yoga and other spiritual paths. Initially, he founded the Serbian Academy of Esoteric Sciences, through which he taught, selling his lessons, courses, and classes, and which he later remodeled to look like a spiritual faculty, which has several departments. Those chairs were the following:

- Raja yoga,
- Therapy,
- Kundalini-hatha,
- Holy Scriptures,
- Enlightenment,
- Serbian Zen Orthodoxy.

Slobodan was the founder of a spiritual path called Serbian Zen Orthodoxy, which contained Zen and Tantra Buddhist principles and techniques. This is not Orthodox religion, the name itself only refers to the geographical location.

At the end of 1996, Slobodan, with his wife and child, went to Canada, that is, to Toronto, to live there. There, he founded the so-called Psychochemistry Institute.

Slobodan died suddenly, in Toronto, Canada, in 2014, as a result of a heart attack, leaving behind his wife and three children. His sudden death shocked not only his wife and children, but many acquaintances and friends, both in Canada and in Serbia.

Slobodan transformed and enriched with knowledge hundreds of lives, both for a few regular and hundreds of non-regular students, who learned yoga and other spiritual paths from him, both in the area of the former Yugoslavia, and later, in Canada.

Slobodan did not leave behind a spiritual heir, and a continuation of the lineage, at least not when it comes to Serbia. After his departure for Canada, the Serbian Academy of Esoteric Sciences ceased to exist, and some of the closest students from Serbia, started to teach yoga independently.

Dejan Banovic, from Kraljevo, is one of his former students, who has his own website, where he occasionally publishes various quality articles and translations in the field of yoga, Buddhism, and other spiritual teachings. The address of that site is the next:
